If you are arriving from the US, we recommend taking a Thursday evening flight to Lisbon at the latest, which will arrive on Friday morning or midday. Areias do Seixo is about an hour's drive from downtown Lisbon or the Lisbon airport, and you can get there via Uber, a pre-arranged car shuttle with Areias (more details to come), or a rental car. Hotel check in is at 4:00pm and the Welcome Festa begins at 6:30pm on the property, including dinner.
If you arrive on Friday morning, you'll have time to explore Lisbon before heading to the hotel. You can grab a coffee and pastel de nata, stretch your legs after the flight, and make your way to Areias do Seixo in time for check in. We'll also share a travel guide with our favorite spots in the Portuguese capital!
For those heading home on Sunday, we suggest booking an early evening flight to give yourself time to enjoy the breakfast gathering without rushing. There are convenient Sunday evening flights to Boston, New York, and Washington. If your schedule allows, we highly recommend extending your stay to explore more parts of Portugal. Areias do Seixo is centrally located which allows for continued trips to the north (Porto, Douro Valley, Serra da Estrela), center (Lisbon, Sintra, Comporta), and the south (Alentejo and Algarve). We really appreciate you adjusting your schedules to join us for our wedding and making the weekday travel work!

If you plan to attend only the weekend activities, renting a car isn’t necessary. Areias do Seixo is about an hour from downtown Lisbon or Lisbon airport, and you can easily get there via Uber (€40-50 one way) or a pre-arranged car shuttle from the hotel (details on this service will follow). However, if you plan to continue exploring Portugal after the wedding, especially beyond Lisbon or Porto, renting a car is the easiest way to get around. For travel between Lisbon and Porto, there’s also a fast and reliable train service. We’ll be sharing a travel guide with suggested itineraries and ideas for extending your stay in Portugal.

Areias offers a myriad of activities - from the active (yoga, biking, surfing) to the passive (pool and spa). We'll be sending additional information about group activities in the coming months where you can sign up. Some activities are complementary and others will be an additional fee.

All rooms are double occupancy with a private en suite bath, and breakfast is included on both Saturday and Sunday mornings (it's absolutely fantastic). Some rooms are located in the smaller main hotel building while most are in Areias’ new villas, adjacent to the hotel. The room rate is $375 per night. The hotel will contact all guests who have RSVP’d directly to handle booking and payment. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us.

We kindly ask that you don’t. Our vision is to have all of our guests together for the weekend at Areias do Seixo, it's a beautiful property and we promise you won't be disappointed. We’ve reserved the entire venue from Friday night until Sunday morning for our events and it can accommodate all our guests. Please reach out to us with any questions.

We understand that many of you with kiddos will wish to bring them with you to Portugal. While children of all ages are welcome at the hotel, we've chosen to make the official activities (Friday Welcome Event and Saturday Wedding/Reception) an adults-only affair. Thank you for your understanding! Childcare can be arranged through the hotel at your own cost.

Portugal has a mild climate and temperatures will be in the pleasant 60s and 70s during this time of year. Bring layers in case it gets cooler at night as many activities will take place outdoors.

Tinned fish (conservas) is a beloved staple in both Portugal and Spain, representing a traditional meal or snack enjoyed by many. We appreciate the symbolism behind this culinary tradition, reflecting the enduring love and preservation that marriage embodies.
